Environment

Sustainable

Sustainability is at the heart of our farm. We have returned to traditional farming methods, largely abandoned in todays intensive farming systems, to produce healthy, wholesome food and improve the environment at the same time. Ruminants (sheep, goats, cows) grazed on pasture are naturally carbon neutral.

Low Input

We use hardy, traditional breeds, which graze our rich pasture. We produce our own hay for winter feeding and avoid using fertiliser and pesticides. We use regenerative grazing to improve our soil fertility and let our goats and sheep manage our pasture for us.

Bio-diversity

Instead of a commercial grass pasture, our pasture is rich in different types of native grasses and plants. We hay late to let plants develop flowers and seed, as well as provide cover for ground nesting birds.

Animal Welfare

Unlike some commercial herds, our animals live outdoors their entire life, free ranging on our diverse pasture. This is good for the animals and also produces better quality and more nutritious food.

Make Good Choices

Intensive farming harms our planet. It's not whether you eat meat, or are plant based, it's how that  product was produced and where it was produced.

Buy local and from small farms, or local markets and do your bit to save the planet.
